Collection: Red Wines

Red wine is a type of wine made from dark-colored (black) grape varieties. The actual color of the wine can range from intense violet, typical of young wines, through to brick red for mature wines and brown for older red wines. The juice from most purple grapes is greenish-white; the red color comes from anthocyan pigments (also called anthocyanins) present in the skin of the grape; exceptions are the relatively uncommon teinturier varieties, which produce a red colored juice. Much of the red-wine production process therefore involves extraction of color and flavor components from the grape skin.

How long can red wine be stored?

Red wine can be stored for several years, depending on the quality and type of wine. Most red wines are designed to age and develop complex flavors over time. However, it is essential to store red wine properly in a cool, dark place to preserve its quality.

Where can I purchase red wine gifts?

How many calories are in a glass of red wine?

Does red wine improve with age?

Some red wines are known to improve with age as they develop more complex flavors and aromas. However, not all red wines are meant for long-term aging, so it's essential to research the specific wine's aging potential.

Can red wine stain teeth?

Yes, like many other beverages, red wine can potentially stain teeth due to its dark pigments. Regular brushing and good oral hygiene practices can help mitigate this effect.

How long does an opened bottle of red wine last?

Once opened, red wine can last for 3-5 days if properly re-corked or sealed. However, the flavors may start to deteriorate after the first couple of days, so it's best to consume it sooner rather than later.

Does red wine need to be refrigerated after opening?

Red wine does not need to be refrigerated after opening, but it should be stored in a cool place and consumed within a few days to maintain its freshness.
